At Holme Valley, we believe that music is a universal language that expresses one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talents as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.

Our high quality music curriculum has been designed so that pupils acquire knowledge and understanding across the key areas of singing, performance, composition and theory. Pupils will understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated and will be taught musical vocabulary and appropriate musical notations. We provide opportunities for learning an instrument, singing in a choir and developing pupil’s musical interests through extra-curricular activities.

We aim to develop confident musicians who understand the value and importance of music in the wider community. Pupils are able to use their musical skills, knowledge, and experiences in a variety of different contexts. We provide every pupil with the opportunity to develop their musical potential and we aim to nurture and encourage a lifelong love of music.

If you require any further information about our music curriculum, please contact the school office and our subject leader will get back to you.
