School Uniform

It is our view that the wearing of school uniform encourages corporate identity and pride and discourages competive attitudes towards clothing and possessions. We try to keep the uniform as simple and flexible as possible whilst maintaining an overall school identity.

The main uniform cosists of:

  • Royal blue sweat shirt or cardigan with the school logo
  • Sky blue, royal blue or white shirt, blouse, t-shirt or polo shirt.
  • Grey, black or navy trousers for boys.
  • Grey, black or navy trousers, pinafore dress or skirt for girls.
  • Black shoes (not trainers)

In the summer months children are encouraged to wear simple, pratical clothes in the same colours and style as above but shorts are often worn and some girls prefer to wear a simple dress of blue checks. Shoes in the summer should also be such that the children are able to run about with safety on hard and field play areas; very strappy sandals with raised heels can be unstable in play situations.

PLEASE LABEL ALL CLOTHES AND SHOES WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME

We also recomend that all children should bring a hat to school in he summer to wear during hot play times as there is very little shade on the school field or playground. Baseball style caps in a light colour with a back flap to protect the neck (if possible), are ideal for protection from the sun.

Children are asked not to wear jewellery to school as such items, which are often valuable, are easily lost and that causes distress and worry for the child. Jewellery can cause a hazard to themselves and others in play situation. If earrings are worn they should be of the plain stud type, (not drop or loops) to reduce the risk of accidents.

Clothing for PE

In Key Stage 1 and 2

Indoor PE as follows

  • Girls Black Leotard
  • Boys Black Shorts

Indoor PE is carried out in bare feet. Following doctors advice, children who develop verrucas do not need to be excluded from PE.

Outdoor work will be carried out in white t-shirts and black shorts. If it is cold, children may wish to bring jogging bottoms and top or sweatshirt to work in outside too. The children will require trainers.

We cannot usually provide PE clothing or footwear within school so children should always bring their 'kit' with them on the appropriate days.

For health and safety reasons, children should remove earrings and any other form of jewellery for PE. No jewellery of any kind is permitted for PE of sports matches so children should remember to remove all earrings before taking part in any sport. Federation rules makes no reservations for covering with plasters.

For all inter-school matches and events the school provides clothing in the colours agreed over the years with other schools in the federation/leagues.

  • For Football Black and royal striped tops and black shorts
